Sometimes eye drops to dilate pupils are going to be used in order to examine the retina further.

Such cases involve, for example, a sudden onset of vitreous floaters, when the retina has to be checked in order to rule out the presence of a retinal detachment, which is serious threat to the vision.

The drops will open wider both eyes pupils and this will make vision more blurry and eyes more sensitive to light. And the effect lasts for about four hours (or more, depending on which eye drops are used). Because of this reason, some people won’t feel confident for driving, and that is why is always recommended to bring a driver for the way back home, and a pair of sunglasses to help with bright lights.
