Eye Pressures Measuring / Glaucoma Screening

Glaucoma is one of the major causes of blindness around the world. It refers to a family of diseases that damage the optic nerve.

It is also known as “the silent thief” since affects vision most of the times slowly and without symptoms. For that reason, and also for the fact that once vision is lost then it cannot be recovered, screening is the most valuable tool to prevent damage related to this common disease. Three main points are checked upon when doing glaucoma screening: eye pressures (tonometry), optic nerve head evaluation (ophthalmoscopy), and visual field testing.
